Sometimes it seems that everything is already lost. The planet is dying... being socially responsible towards your employees, your stakeholders, the society, is overrated (or so people would have you believe)... And these two aspects always seem diametrically opposed to performance and profitability! Sustainable leadership is when leaders manage companies with environmental and societal development goals in mind. ... It’s all about leading in a way that benefits societies and the environment, while (and that’s crucial!) maintaining financial performance. Because we believe in being sustainable, responsible, and making money, we wanted to highlight leaders who (like ourselves) work everyday to make it happen, and, more importantly, to put the record straight... Talking about sustainability should not be as depressing as we sometimes see it in the media. It is an occasion for change, an opportunity for innovation at the three pillars: people, planet & profit. Sustainability! What else?

As Sustainability Delivery Manager for Scope 1 & 2 at GSK, Virgile drives the company's ambitious 2030 sustainability goals focused on climate action and becoming nature positive. His engineering background in energy systems, combined with a deep interest in social, economic, and environmental issues, has given him a unique perspective on the interconnectedness of global challenges—and their potential solutions.
Virgile's commitment to sustainable change extends beyond his corporate role. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he co-founded Foodarity, a non-profit organization designed to foster solidarity within organic food sectors. His diverse skill set has proven valuable in the social entrepreneurship arena, where he collaborates with established Brussels-based organizations like Declic en Perspective and CitizenFund.
As a facilitator promoting collective intelligence and social innovation with organizations such as Declic and The Impacters, Virgile tackles critical themes including social and solidarity economy and fair compensation throughout supply chains.
