Episode 30 - Brieuc Debontridder (Social Performance expert, author and documentary producer)

An expert in social performance standards as well as a documentary producer, author and mediator, he changes hats as one swipes on a social media feed. There is unfortunately not (yet) one job title for this so he would define himself as a "weaver", sharpening his tools to "repair the torn fabric of the world", as Abdennour Bidar brilliantly puts it in his book "Les Tisserands".

He worked for seven years at mining sites mitigating impacts on local communities, mainly in the DRE but also in Senegal and Guinea. He has also contributed to a study of UC Berkeley on child labour and artisanal extraction in cobalt mines. This led him to write the book "République démocratique du Cobalt" a documentary narrative that, through a story and photos, plunges the reader into the heart of the social and environmental impacts of the mining sector in Congo and helps understand the dynamics in place while avoiding a binary logic between good and bad.

In parallel, he is the author of several articles and has been a photographer and video producer for over fifteen years.
